Authorities are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the Iowa City Pedestrian Mall (Ped Mall), a busy downtown area near the University of Iowa campus. The incident unfolded during the early hours of Sunday morning following reports of a large altercation involving a crowd in the area.

According to police updates, gunfire erupted amid a chaotic fight involving dozens of individuals, leading to multiple injuries. At least five people were reported wounded, including several University of Iowa students. One victim remains in critical condition while others are stable and receiving medical care.
