Brittany L. Dougal Obituary: North Kingstown Police Officer Remembered After Passing at 29
Brittany L. Dougal, a rookie officer with the North Kingstown Police Department in Rhode Island, has passed away at the age of 29 on March 4, 2026. Her sudden passing has left colleagues, friends, and multiple communities in deep mourning.
Dougal was recently sworn in on December 22, 2025, after an impressive performance at the police academy, where she graduated second in her class on December 19, 2025. At the time of her service, she lived in Cranston, Rhode Island, and was originally from Danvers, Massachusetts.
Her death has prompted heartfelt tributes from both the North Kingstown Police Department and the Danvers Police Department. Officials and fellow officers have expressed condolences while also highlighting the importance of mental health awareness and support for first responders. Many described Dougal as a dedicated young officer who showed exceptional promise early in her law enforcement career.
To honor her memory, Danvers police officers wore black mourning bands on their badges through March 14, 2026. Visitation services were held on March 13, 2026, from 4 PM to 8 PM. Funeral services took place on March 14, 2026, at 11 AM at O’Donnell Cremations Funerals Celebrations in Danvers, Massachusetts, located at 167 Maple Street.
Communities in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts continue to extend support to her family, friends, and fellow officers as they remember her life, service, and commitment to public safety.
