Santa Ana, California — Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred late Sunday evening in Santa Ana, leaving two people dead and one injured in what police describe as a violent exchange of gunfire.

According to officials, the incident took place around 9 p.m. near West Borchard Street and South Shelton Street. Responding officers discovered three victims suffering from gunshot wounds at the scene.

Investigators say the shooting appeared to involve a “rapid exchange of gunfire,” with witnesses reporting multiple shots and the possible use of more than one firearm.

Two men, aged in their 40s, were later pronounced dead—one at the scene and another at a nearby hospital. A third victim survived and was transported to a hospital in stable condition.

At this time, authorities have not released details about a suspect or confirmed a motive. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives review surveillance footage and gather witness statements.
